Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. Mini Rio+20 Model UN was held in Almaty
The students? proposals include, inter alia, recommendations on the use of water resources, hazardous waste treatment, establishing 100 ?health points? to promote active lifestyle and to stimulating and promoting alternative transportation such as the use bicycles. Project participants have completed a joint training program on Sustainable Development between Al-Farabi KazNU and MDP/Global Classroom of Earth Institute at Columbia University. Students plan to implement their recommendations into practice in collaboration with government agencies and international organizations. Previously, they had already submitted their proposals to Akim (Mayor) of Almaty, Mr. Akhmetzhan Yesimov.

Rafis Abazov, one of the organizers and a member of Al-Farabi KazNU delegation to the "Rio +20", said: "Kazakhstan's youth became interested in environmental issues because they see the future in "green economy?. Their way of thinking, a fresh perspective and practical ideas are the engine of effective sustainable development in the country and the huge support of Kazakhstan's initiative, "Green Bridge".

Kazakh National University was the first university not only in Kazakhstan but also in Central Asia to be invited to organize a special section at the summit.

Kazakhstan's initiative "Green Bridge" ? program of active promotion of sustainable development in energy and ecological strategy ? proposed by the Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev, will be presented to the world's largest event.
