Hotels for Press
Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. ESCAP Calls for Major Group Nominations for UNCSD Regional Preparatory Meeting
The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) has issued a call for Major Group nominations to participate in the Asian and Pacific Regional Preparatory Meeting for the UN Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD, or Rio+20).
Major Group nominations should be submitted to ESCAP, at escap-esdd-evs@un.org, by 31 August 2011, with a copy to Chantal Line Carpentier at the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA), at carpentier@un.org, to ensure coordination between the nomination processes of ESCAP and DESA.
ESCAP notes that funding will be available for a limited number of those meeting the criteria and submitting nominations in a timely way.
