ScenaRio 2012, the first global survey on youth and sustainable development, involving 30,000 young citizens and 100 personalities worldwide
A unique initiative, ScenaRio 2012 will enable 30,000 young citizens from 30 countries and 100 personalities to express and exchange their perspectives on the multitude of issues linking the environment, development and governance.

The final goal of ScenaRio 2012 is to explore the differences of perceptions of sustainable development between regions of the world and generations through a wide participatory process to fuel the debates held during the Rio+20 Conference.

This project, created and carried out by Nomadéis and Fondapol, is co-financed by the Caisse des Dépôts Group, EDF, Saint-Gobain and Veolia Environnement.

ScenaRio 2012 is officially supported by six UN agencies (the Department of Economic and Social Affairs, UNEP, the Global Compact, UN-Habitat, UNITAR and the Alliance of Civilizations), has obtained two UN labels (the International Year of Youth and UNESCO's Decade of Education for Sustainable Development) and is placed under the patronage of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and his Foundation.

ScenaRio 2012 will cover 30 countries from the industrialized and developing world. In each country, 1,000 young citizens aged 16-29 will be involved, representing the main socioeconomic and demographic characteristics of the national youth

In parallel, ScenaRio 2012 will set up a panel of 100 personalities with a strong individual commitment towards sustainability issues. Specially created for the project, this panel will include opinion-makers from ten spheres of influence (academia, business, culture and creation, media, nonprofit, politics, spirituality, sports, United Nations and youth). Two key rules when establishing the panel will be gender parity and geographic balance.

The project's final outcomes will be summarized in a multilingual publication and officially released at the occasion of the Rio+20 Conference (June 2012), in connection with officially UN-sponsored events, including the ?Youth Blast? organized by the UN Major Group for Children and Youth. Other dissemination events will also be organized at the occasion of the London 2012 Olympic Games and the 6th World Urban Forum in Naples.
