Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. The New York based NGO Committee for Social Development at the United Nations has mounted a signature campaign in 4 languages in support of the Social Protection Floor Initiative. The signatures will be used as an advocacy tool at national level and at the UN during the Commission on Social Development 2012, Commission on Status of Women 2012 and the ILO event in June 2012.
