Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. ECE Regional Preparatory Meeting
There is an open an invitation for other representatives of Children and Youth Major Groups to attend the ECE Regional Preparatory Meeting in Geneva December 1-2, 2011. Please find the registration process form at http://www.unece.org/fileadmin/DAM/env/esd/RPM2011/first/RegistrationForm.doc.

The Economic Commission for Europe Regional Preparatory Meeting for the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development will take place on December 1st and 2nd of this year in Geneva. North America is also included in the ECE region. The Regional Preparatory Meeting will aim at identifying the specific challenges and priorities of the ECE region with regard to the Rio+20 Conference, including policy recommendations and good practices. The results of the meeting, in the form of a non-negotiated outcome or the co-Chairs? Summary, which will be transmitted to and presented at the Second Intercessional Meeting for UNCSD in New York, 15?16 December, 2011. The objectives of the Rio+20 Conference are to secure renewed political commitment for sustainable development, to assess the progress to date and the remaining gaps in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development and to address new and emerging challenges.

The ECE Regional Preparatory Meeting will be divided into three thematic segments:
- Assessment of progress in the implementation of the outcomes of the major summits on sustainable development and address new and emerging challenges
- A green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication
- Institutional framework for sustainable development
