IntroductionThe Low Carbon Agriculture Program (LCAP) is an activity under the Brazilian National Policy on Climate Change, established in 2009. The LCAP is a relevant tool to boost the green economy in the context of sustainable development and poverty eradication, creating projects for promoting integrated farming systems, rehabilitation of degraded pastures, organic agriculture, processing of animal waste, no-tillage planting, fixing biological nitrogen and other sustainable agricultural initiatives.
Detailed programmeThe purpose of this side-event is to present the LCAP and promote a debate of its main characteristics and results among the interested public. The Brazilian Minister of Agriculture will make the presentation, followed by technical inputs from experts, including from a research institution point of view (EMBRAPA).
