Introduction

The Hon Julia Gillard MP, Prime Minister of Australia and The Hon Tony Burke MP, Australian Minister for Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities Are hosting the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Land and Sea Management Side Event

Detailed programme

The Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Land and Sea Management side event is Australia’s key event at the conference. The side event will showcase the benefits of actively engaging indigenous peoples and local communities in natural resource management and how networks supporting knowledge sharing and exchange can build land and sea conservation management capacity at local, regional and international levels.

The side event will involve and target indigenous practitioners, managers and other leaders who have responsibility for land and sea management (through traditional and conventional means) and who have an interest in building capacity through exchange and sharing of best practice.

The event will also attract additional global support for the Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities Land and Sea Managers Network.
