Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. European Commission adopts policy document on Rio+20
On 20 June 2011, the European Commission, the executive body of the European Union, issued a policy document preparing the ground for the EU's position at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development. On the basis of this document, the Commission will work together with the 27 EU Member States and the European Parliament to build a common EU position. The document also serves as a basis for further dialogue with civil society, business and countries globally.
