Accommodation levels in Rio de Janeiro are anticipated to be at full occupancy during the conference. While it is not the responsibility of the United Nations to procure accommodation for the media, it should be noted that the Brazilian national organizing committee for Rio+20 has committed to blocking a minimum of 500 hotel rooms in Rio de Janeiro for media covering the conference. Turkmenistan looks at prospects for establishing Interregional Center on Climate Change in Ashgabat
Issues relating to development of Turkmenistan's National Strategy on Climate Change, opening the UN Interregional Center on Climate Change in Ashgabat and other issues were discussed at the meeting between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Jens Wandel, the United Nations Development Programme Deputy Regional Director for Eastern Europe and CIS.
The sides also discussed Turkmenistan's preparations for the forthcoming World Summit "Rio+20" in Rio de Janeiro.
"The United Nations sees Turkmenistan as a reliable and responsible partner and interested in further development of fruitful cooperation that meets the goals of universal welfare and progress," Jens Wandel said during the meeting.
During the meeting the priority issues and prospects for partnership in social, economic and legal sphere as well as cooperation in humanitarian, educational, health, ecology and many others areas were discussed.
