Achievement of CommitmentThe UMKC Sustainability Office is committed to enhancing awareness and understanding of the principles of sustainability throughout the University community using the framework of economic, social and environmental decision making.
UMKC commits to continue to move forward in 2012-2015 with its sustainability commitments and actions by promising to take action now or in the future, commit to transparency through annual reporting on progress, make progress on implementing the sustainability plan through time-bound targets/goals that can be measured for success, utilize resources and/or partners to achieve these targets.
How this will be achievedUniversity of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) Sustainability Principles and Actions:
UMKC signed on to the ACUPCC in 2009 and is a member in good standing in 2012. UMKC released its first Sustainability Emissions Inventory as part of the American College & University Presidentsí Climate Commitment (ACUPCC) in 2010 followed by the UMKC Sustainability Plan in 2011 and the updated Sustainability Emissions Inventory in 2012. In the spring of 2012 UMKC join The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating Systemô (STARS) which is a transparent, self-reporting framework for colleges and universities to measure the sustainability performance supported and provided by Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE). UMKC has been an active AASHE member since 2009.
