Current projects already underway.

Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences actively participates to academic and environmental research networks, such as the Hellenic Biodiversity Network and Dialogue for Europe (initiated by the Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence of the University of Athens). In conformity with raising awareness of the SD concept throughout the Greek society, EKePEK organizes on an annual basis Summer Schools which have been recognized as “Good Practices” by the UNECE, where students from all scientific fields and University Departments and Faculties are welcome. Main aim of those Summer Schools is enhance participants’ knowledge on SD goals through lectures, assignments, side-projects and awareness raising actions (the closure of each summer school is marked by a theme-based conference with the local community’s active participation on SD issues.)

A Conference entitled: RIO+20, EKePEK+20, Evaluating the Past and Moving Forward, where representatives from the academic community, NGOs, UNRIC-WE and the European Union assessed the progress of the goals set by the RIO Declaration on Environment and Development. It should be noted that our Centre’s inaugural scientific activity, in 2002, was a conference on the outcome of the United Nations World Summit on Sustainable Development.
