A Rio+20 side event organized by the UNEP DITE International Environmental Technology Centre (IETC) in collaboration with the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The "Wasted opportunity?" side event brings together government and private sector stakeholders to discuss their mutual needs and the respective contributions they can make to achieve sustainable waste management in a green economy context. As a follow-up activity, UNEP proposes to engage stakeholders in the development of guidelines for public-private partnerships in waste management.
