Climate Change and Green Economy ? the BSEC contribution to Rio + 20
23 Apr 2012 - 23 Apr 2012The main objective of this conference is to open a dialogue on the necessity and opportunities for improving cooperation between the BSEC Member Countries concerning the promotion of climate change policy, i.e. the adaptation/mitigation measures, the synergy of climate change and the green economy concept, as well as actual results and achievements at the national level in the context of the forthcoming World Summit ?Rio + 20?. In addition to the aforementioned, one of the main goals of this meeting will be the consideration and promotion of regionally significant mechanisms and prospective solutions for facing and overcoming challenges in the period after Rio +20 (such as the so-called " Strategic Green Alliance" and "Green Investment and Trade Opportunities," etc.). In this context, actual results and achievements at the national level as well as the experience and results of the research project EU-FP7 PROMITHEAS 4 shall also be presented (publication ?The Climate Change Policy Issue in BSEC Countries?), as tool for creating an integrative forum for achieving the basic goal of the aforementioned event.
As a result, the Ministerial Declaration will be adopted as a guideline message sent by the representatives of BSEC Member States.
Furthermore, our goal is also to present the results of this meeting at the forthcoming United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, Rio + 20 as a special contribution of the BSEC region.
