Green economy Practices/Policies/Initiatives in Serbia
  • Biodiversity Strategy of the Republic of Serbia
    The Republic of Serbia recognizes and supports global strategic goals for biodiversity - 'Aichi targets', adopted during the Conference of the Parties of the Convention in Nagoya in October 2010.
  • Financing Energy Efficiency Projects
    According to the Annual Program draft, the anticipated amount of funding for energy efficiency raising projects is RSD 1,300,000,000.00 (approximately EUR 1 300 000). These funds are anticipated to be given as grants.
  • Renewable Energy Feed-in Tariffs
    Serbia developed stimulating feed-in tariff system for energy produced from renewable sources in power plants with a capacity of less than 10 MW.
  • Strategy for Waste Management
    Waste policy and legislation, adopted by the Government of the Republic of Serbia in 2003, includes National waste management strategy.

  • Joint Belgrade Declaration on Climate Change and Green Economy, BSEC contribution to Rio + 20
    The Roundtable on the Environmental Protection of the Adriatic– Ionian Initiative represented the opportunity to present and discuss preparation activities for the forthcoming United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (UNCSD - Rio +20), as well as many other important issues. This event was also one of the final activities hosted by Serbia during its one-year Chairmanship of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative. The Environmental protection is one of the key goals of the Initiative. Being aware of the importance of the decisions that will be made at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, one of the main topics discussed at the meeting of the AII in Belgrade was the progress that the countries of the Adriatic-Ionian region had made in terms of introducing the green economy concept and the sustainable development management. The event was attended by representatives from AII member countries, members of the AII Permanent Secretariat, officials of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Serbia, the UN Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) experts, representatives of other international organizations, representatives of the Serbian business sector headed by the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the representatives of academic institutions and civil society organizations.
  • Summary of the discussions by representatives of the South Eastern European (SEE) countries at the regional Workshop, Sustainable Consumption and Production and the Green Economy experiences and good practices, Belgrade
    A Regional Workshop was organized by the Office of the Deputy Prime-Minister for European Integration and the Ministry of Environment, Mining and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Serbia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Physical Planning and Construction of the Republic of Croatia, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the United Nations Environment Programme.
