CO2 Act
The CO2 Act entered into effect in 2000 and forms the central pillar of Swiss climate policy.
Switzerland plans to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 20 per cent by 2020 in comparison with emission levels in 1990. The CO2-Act's objective is to reduce the emission of climate-relevant carbon dioxide (CO2) arising from the combustion of fossil fuels.
