The environment is the foundation upon which human societies and economic development are built. UNEP�s flagship Global Environmental Outlook in its fifth edition undertook a comprehensive analysis of problems across different environmental themes and regions and has explored the solution space of what responses are needed and how to achieve them. GEO-5 also assesses existing scenarios to provide an outlook for transformative policies and actions that can be undertaken to enable the achievement of environmental goals. The main messages in GEO-5 will be mapped along the topics of Rio+20 outcome document and presented to participants.
